Benefits of Reducing Plastic in Your Life
We all want to reduce the usage of plastic in our life. However, using plastic seems inescapable because it’s everywhere. Further, the usage of plastic has indeed made our life easier. But we also know that using plastic has its dangers. We need to collectively reduce the usage of plastic in our life. Before we do it collectively, we need to start taking steps on the individual level. Here are 3 benefits of reducing plastic in your life:
They are Dangerous for Animals
Plastic, especially single-use plastic, end up in the dustbin as soon as we are done using it. We open a new packet of chocolate, and its wrapper goes to the dustbin. We finish a bottle of water, and the bottle goes straight to the dustbin. However, this plastic ends up not in the dustbin, but in the stomachs of stray animals. They consume while scavenging for food and die over time as plastic causes sickness and disorders. It is our responsibility to look after the other beings on this planet.
It’s Better for the Environment
Plastic is not just harmful for animal consumption, but for humans, as well. Since plastic is a non-biodegradable substance. One way or the other, its harmful chemicals end up being in the environment. These chemicals alter the air, food, and even water we consume. Some of these chemicals even find their way into crops. Plastic is not good for us or the environment.
It Saves Money
Most of the plastic we use is use-and-throw. Additionally, there’s a limit to how many plastic bottles and polythene bags we can collect at home. Next time you have to go out, carry your water bottle with you. This will keep you buying a bottle (use more plastic) when you are thirsty and save money. It may seem like a negligible amount to save, but it’s impactful in the long run.
